A big CONGRATS to Joe Crede for making the All-Star team this year!! Granted, he’s on the *reserve* team and not a starter, but hey, the reserves are chosen by the players, not the fans. That should REALLY count for something!
Now, maybe if Madonna plans on keeping A-Rod under lock and key for next year, just *maybe* Joe will have a chance at being a starter…! Snicker.

Family,
Girlies by Tonya
so, the proverbial broom goes back to sweep the Cubs! Snicker. I knew our guys would *get ‘em* on home turf!
It’s been wonderful, going home to the girlies…although, some days are NOT so good, especially when they neglect to clean up the messes they make the night before or during the day while we’re at work!!
I took the day off yesterday to pick Nicole up and take all four girls to Six Flags for the “Warped Tour” goings-on. I was going to stay at the park and just hang out while the girls did their own thing, but it was HORRIBLY CROWDED! It turned out to be a major disappointment, too….they had many bands slated to be there, but only two actually *performing* and the rest were signing autographs. Well, that is, if you had a wrist band…which turned out to be $10 each! This isn’t something they advertised online or anything, so I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised. I ended up dropping the girls off and going back home to sit in the air conditioning, there was no way I was going to wait in those long lines by myself!
It feels odd to be at work after having so many days off! It’s been nice, though, to have the time to kick back, relax, and enjoy having a VERY hectic house full of girlies! Of course, that comes with the “enjoy the quiet before they get up” cup of coffee and a book!
When V and I took the younger girls to get their library cards, I got a book about Andy Kaufman. It was only about a 2-3 day read, I liked it so much! I also got a book on CD about Joni Mitchell, Carole King, and Carly Simon which is sort of more socially involved than I thought it would be. It not only tells all three of their life stories, but it also goes into detail about what was going on in the *women in music* and social movements at the time.

Okay, so our guys got swept in horrible fashion by the Flubs….hey, the show isn’t over yet! Just wait until we get them on the field at The Cell!
In other news…isn’t that something about George Carlin?? Wow, you go in with chest pains and it’s all over! He was SO hilarious…he will be sorely missed especially by those of us who fell asleep on the couch and stayed up late to watch him on HBO, knowing full well that we were too young to even KNOW about “The 7 Words You Can’t Say on TV or Radio”!

Okay, it seems like there’s a month for everything anymore, but this one means SO MUCH to me! Actually, the *official* Cancer Survivor’s Day is June 1st, but hey, why not celebrate when you can?
Here’s to much MORE survival to celebrate!

Many moons ago, I went to a Stevie Nicks concert, and Joe Walsh was opening for her. I vividly remember JW stumbling his way through his songs, and being so blitzed that he could barely remember the words! Everyone was so put off by his performance that we were all chanting, “Ste-vie, Ste-vie!” before it was all over with!
Then, a piano starts playing….a light shines on Stevie, and she launches into the most TOUCHING rendition of “Rhiannon” that I’d ever heard up to that point, until last night!
Oh, Stevie’s concert last night was WON-DER-FUL!! V and I got tickets to Stevie’s concert for Stephen for his birthday, and we had SUCH a great time! Our seats were perfect, the weather was perfect (it was at the Charter One Pavilion at Northerly Island downtown, which is an outdoor venue)…we couldn’t have planned it better! Stephen even got us two shirts each for *his* birthday, hehe! Actually, I’m wearing one right now.
So, last night, for a little while, I was that 18-year-old girl again, enthralled by such a great musical talent as Stevie Nicks. It was yet another night I will remember and cherish always!

Okay…last Saturday I had my first ever mammogram. I’d heard horror stories about being squished into oblivion, cringing in pain, but it didn’t really frighten me a whole lot. I mean, any test without the use of needles or nasty-tasting contrast is okay in my book!
I guess the only thing that truly did frighten me was the possibility of their *finding* something.
So, with much adjustment and tugging and squishing, it was done. And yes, it *was* uncomfortable, but only about a 2 or 3 on a pain scale of 1-10, with 10 being the worst. They said I’d be getting a letter in a couple of weeks, if nothing came up.
Well, they called here and left a message for me to call them, so I did. They needed additional views of my right breast, and yes, I was scared to the point of tears. The nurse on the phone assured me, though, that this wasn’t unusual.
I went in today for the other mammogram, and after having to wait for what seemed an eternity, the radiologist congratulated me and said, “You’re fine…it was only a mole!” And while it seems like a small thing, to be worried to the point of tears about a MOLE of all things, I guess after all the cancer and chemo and all I don’t take anything for granted!
I’m breathing a HUGE sigh of relief, let me tell ya! I’m officially a member of the Mammogram club, but VERY glad I don’t have to do another one for another year!

So, 25 years ago today I was putting on my cap and gown and walking across a VERY long stage (or so it seemed at the time!) to get my high school diploma! It was all such a blur, but even moreso with the passing of time.
I thought I was something…..I had just gotten my driver’s license that day and was driving my *own* car to graduation. That’s why I was so thrilled when I pulled up and asked my Spanish teacher outside the auditorium where to park!
I also took a friend….well, I couldn’t exactly call him a *friend* in the true sense of the word because he ended up to be such a jerk. We’re talking when he took me out for pizza, he asked the waitress for her phone number! And no, it wasn’t Mike!
Anyway, with this same guy, I had a pretty fun time after graduation was over, hehe!
I remember how some of the girls in my class behaved as we were lining up to become a procession….one of them even broke down and cried and ended up in the floor…talk about overly dramatic!! Sheesh.
I miss some of the friends I had in high school. I managed to keep up with at least one of them since we’ve graduated, on and off. I had another good friend (my best friend, then) who got married a couple of days before graduation, but I’ve lost touch with her since then.
Life since then has certainly had its share of ups and downs. It seems like just yesterday I was going through one of the happiest days of my life…definitely one I will never forget!
So, to my fellow members of the Class of 1983, I say “Happy 25 Years!”
